Provenance and Comments: Most of these items were in a crate set aside for von Behr at the Louvre. Summary of content of crate marked SYL 1 belonging to Sylvain Levy. According to French restitution records, the following items were restituted on 7 June 1946 to the heirs of Sylvain Lévy from crate SYL 1: 1 coffret en bois garni plaquettes de bronze, 1 tam-tam en cuir tressé (Océanie), 2 rouleaux estampes chinoises, 4 rouleaux tissu et inscriptions japonaises, 2 brochures et plusieurs lettres avec enveloppes provenant de Chine et du Japon. There is evidence that a wooden mask from crate SYL 1 was restored at Buxheim in August 1944.
