Provenance and Comments: Sold under duress to the German occupation authorities. As of 1952, the painting had not been found. However, according to a letter written by Capt. Doubinsky to Rose Valland on 9 November 1948, this painting by Heinsius was discovered in the US Zone of occupation of Germany and processed at the MCCP and repatriated to France in 1946. There is every indication that this painting was restituted to Mr. Wildenstein. However, according to a letter written by Capt.
