| Provenance and Comments: | Exchanged at the Fischer Gallery in Lucerne, Switzerland. [Goering Collection report, pp.129-130]. According to French restitution authorities, a painting by Corot entitled "Venise" was restituted to the heirs of Levy de Benzion on 4 October 1955. The only painting that matches descriptively the one mentioned by the French is LB 62 entitled "Piazetta", part of an exchange with Goering which benefited Theodor Fischer in Lucerne, Switzerland. It is our belief, lest there be proof to the contrary, that the painting was repatriated to France in 1948 but that it was not returned to the heirs of Levy de Benzion until late 1955. | ||||
