| Provenance and Comments: | Apparently, this painting by van Goyen returned to France for restitution to the Strauss family, but somehow was "lost" in the shuffle. An exchange of letters dating from 1968 between Rose Valland and the French Museum Administration [Direction des musées nationaux] attests to this administrative snafu.
